Traditional & Alternative Wedding Photography

Lancashire, UK & Beyond

Welcome Friend!

I’m so honoured that you are considering me to photograph and document your big day!

At the heart of it all, I want to keep it real by capturing your real essence, relationships, emotions, and story. But let’s be honest, being photographed by someone else can be quite an awkward or nerve-racking experience. SO, my goal is to provide a super comfortable environment for you, creating a safe space to be your genuine self so we can get those stunning photographs.

Here is a little introduction I have put together, covering my photographic approach, overall process and wedding photography packages.

Photography Approach & Style

Natural | Romantic | Storytelling

There are two key roles I undertake while photographing a wedding;

  1. A guiding hand.

This role is for those moments we create together, such as during your mini couple photography session. My goal is create a comfortable and fun atmosphere while providing natural prompts and poses that best showcase your relationship and who you are.

  2. The observer.
This is the role I will be in most of the day to capture and document all the true moments of the in way that produces stunning photographs. Focusing on you, the events of the day and your guests I will do my best to blend into the background.

Overall, I love great light and I will seek it out during the wedding day, I will do the most to optimise the natural and ambient light. If there is not enough ambient light, I will use a speed-light either on top of my camera or remotely triggered. This will be more prominent for evening celebrations, winter weddings or venues with dim lighting.

My editing style is fairly consistent, focusing on real colours with a slightly moody feel. However, please note that no two weddings are ever the same and there are elements out of my hands that will impact the final images such as; the weather, the venue, wedding styling, time of ceremony and time of year.

But that’s a good thing it means your wedding photographs will be uniquely yours. And as certain scenarios may lend themselves to shooting with different creative techniques, we can explore that together!

Complimentary Pre-Wedding Photography Session.

Why do I do this?

Simple, it’s a great way for us to get to know each other even better. Plus, it acts as a bit of a trail run for being photographed by me on your wedding day.

The session itself will usually be around 30-45 minutes and the aim is to make you feel a little more comfortable in front of the camera, particularly if you are feeling a little nervous or anxious about it.

And believe me, I get it! It’s a super unnatural thing to be photographed by someone else, never-mind a stranger. But I have been photographing people for over 15 years now, and trust me we will have a fun time and get lovely photographs from it.

And in my opinion, it’s a nice thing to have. But maybe I’m bias!

Is it optional?

Of course it is!

There is no pressure to have the pre-wedding photography session if you don’t want to.

When should we have our pre-wedding photography session?

This is completely up to you and your preference. It may also depend how far in advance you are booking your wedding.

Some people like to schedule it for as soon as possible, or a year before the wedding, or up to 1 month before the wedding! It truly is down to your personal preference.

Although this is part of your wedding photography package because there is no set timeline and it is optional, booking this session will be slightly separate from the process above which we can do via email.

Can we have our pre-wedding photography session at any location we want?

For my pre-wedding photography session I limit the travel distance to within Lancashire. However if there is somewhere specific that is meaningful to you outside of Lancashire that you’d really like to be the location of the photoshoot, that can be a discussion between us. But please be aware this may include additional costs.

*please note complimentary pre-wedding photoshoots are only included in photography packages with coverage of 4 hours or more.

If your wedding photography package doesn’t include it and you want one, don’t worry! It can be an add on for an additional £200.

FAQ’s

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I do have insurance!

Can you help us plan our timeline?

Yes absolutely! If you are unsure of how best to time things I can certainly help you work this out so that the day can run as smoothly as possible.

How do travel expenses work?

Travel within a 50 mile radius is covered within my packages. Then for weddings outside of this distance there is a cost per additional mile. Plus, if accommodation is required or a different mode of transport this will be added as travel expenses.

Do you have back ups, and how do you make sure our photos are safe?

I shoot all weddings on two cameras, each camera I shoot straight onto two SD cards so immediately have back ups of photographs.

To all weddings I bring a number of lenses, batteries and SD cards to make sure if anything fails or runs out, I have a back up or spare.

Then immediately after the wedding I transfer all the photos to two hard drives, plus I keep at least one of the SD cards from each camera with all the photographs until delivery.

Do you edit all of the photos?

Yes, each and every photo delivered will be edited by myself. Editing is a huge part of the job as a wedding photographer. I will never deliver or provide RAW or unedited photographs.

Can we print our own photographs?

Yes of course you can! My packages come with print release so you can source your own print suppliers.

I offer prints and albums of a professional premium quality, but I understand I might gush over these things more than you.

My personal belief is it is always nice to have prints and albums and I’m more than happy if you decided to do this yourself.

Remember This Is Your Wedding

If you are one for traditions and wish to stick to them!

But if you want to break tradition and do things your own way, then it is your wedding and you are allowed to do so!

This may include;

  • Seeing each other before the ceremony. This may be particularly appealing if your ceremony is later in the day. You may choose to have breakfast, get ready together, travel to the venue together or all of those things.

  • Wearing a white dress. If it’s just not your bag choose a dress that feels like you.

  • Speeches & toasts. This can be a highly personal element but you may have reasons for not wanting them, and that is fine.

  • First dance. If you don’t want one, don’t have one.

  • Cake. If you’re not big cake eaters or want something different, it is totally your choice.

There are lots of elements throughout a wedding day that make it special to you, so make sure that you plan the wedding that you will enjoy the most!
